FAQ answers are general information only. Specific terms, eligibility, and pricing are determined by the carrier at the time of quote.

Do I really need wedding insurance?

If your venue requires a certificate of insurance — most do — then yes, liability coverage is effectively required. Cancellation coverage is always optional, but most couples buy it because the cost of the policy is a tiny fraction of the deposits at risk.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?

For most wedding and special-event liability policies, the certificate is issued within minutes of binding. You'll typically receive a PDF you can forward to your venue immediately.

How far in advance can I buy a policy?

Cancellation coverage is generally available up to about two years before the event. Liability coverage can usually be bought right up until a few days before the event, but earlier is better — most venues want the certificate weeks in advance.

What if our event is over multiple days?

Both wedding and special event policies can be extended to cover rehearsal dinners, ceremony, reception, and post-wedding brunch — up to about five days. Make sure to list every event day on the quote.

What is host liquor liability?

It's an add-on coverage for events where alcohol is served but not sold. It covers liability arising from over-service of alcohol — for example, if an intoxicated guest causes damage on the way home. Many venues require it whenever alcohol is present at a private event.

Can my venue be added as additional insured?

Yes — that's the standard practice. Most carriers add an unlimited number of additional insureds at no extra cost. Provide the venue's exact legal name and address when you apply.

Will the policy cover the honeymoon?

No. Honeymoon trip cancellation is covered by a travel insurance policy, which is a separate product. Wedding insurance covers the event itself.

What if we change our minds and decide not to get married?

A change of heart is not insurable under any wedding policy. Cancellation coverage applies only to specific listed reasons that are outside the couple's control.

Are destination weddings covered?

Many U.S.-issued wedding policies extend worldwide for cancellation reasons, but liability coverage is generally limited to events held within the United States. If you're getting married abroad, tell us on the form and we'll confirm what's available.

How do I file a claim?

Claims are filed directly with the carrier that issued your policy. The policy documents will list a claim phone number and a website. We recommend reporting any potential claim as soon as you know about it.
